Overview
This story-writing course will show students how they can get ideas from reading nonfiction text. Learn how to write a fictional story based on factual information. Read an informative text for inspiration, then write a creative story with made-up characters and illustrations! Your story will have a beginning, middle, and ending and you will see how to incorporate factual information or descriptions into the story. This is the kind of narrative writing that many novels are based on! How fun! A work sample opportunity will be provided.
This course is designed with 4th graders in mind, but all are welcome to attend.
Note: each week builds upon the last week’s skills so it is ideal to attend all classes.
