Writer's Club - 5th - Evidential Expressions:Informative Writing (S6)

Overview

Utilizing the writing process, students will learn how to write an informational writing piece.  Topics covered: the basic outline of an informative essay, choosing a topic to write about, researching your topic using credible sources, writing a clear introduction that hooks the reader, including factual information that flows well and provides examples to support topics stated in the introduction, writing a solid conclusion that helps summarize the topic for the reader.  An opportunity for a work sample will be provided. This course is designed for 5th grade, but all are welcome to attend.

Writer's Corner - 4th - Fact Finders: Informative Writing (S6)

Students will learn how to write an informational writing piece based on Gold Rush articles provided.  Topics covered: the basic outline of an informative essay, how to take notes from a text and cite your source, writing a clear introduction that hooks the reader, and providing examples to support topics stated in the introduction with a solid conclusion. An opportunity for a work sample will be provided. This course is designed for 4th grade, but all are welcome to attend.

This class will connect what we know and real-world experiences by allowing students to explore the vastness of space and its wonders. They will learn about space including the sun, moon, stars, and planets, and Earth’s unique role in the universe. Understanding these celestial bodies with an art focus will help students appreciate and learn about our planet and beyond. A work sample opportunity will be provided. Recommended for grades TK-1, but all students are welcome.
