MS/HS - Writing - Persuasive Writing (S2)

Overview
This course will dive deep into the skill of persuasive writing that all students have the opportunity to experience each year according to the California State Standards. We will work through each phase of the persuasive writing process - planning, drafting, revising - and the Workshop will culminate in each student writing a persuasive essay and presenting their topic in the last session as well to demonstrate speaking standards. A work sample opportunity will be provided. Recommended for grades 6-12, but all students are welcome.

Overview
This course explores the basics of matter, its properties, conservation laws, and distinguishing between physical and chemical changes. Through simple experiments and discussions, students will gain foundational knowledge essential for scientific understanding and practical applications. A work sample opportunity will be provided. Recommended for grades 6-12, but all students are welcome.

Writer's Club - 5th - Crafting Compelling Opinions: Opinion Writing (S2)

Writer’s Club: Opinion Writing- Write your opinion in an organized way that clearly states your topic and groups related ideas together, using facts and details, that support your opinion. This course will further develop and provide opportunities to practice using the writing process: choosing a topic, making a plan, writing a draft, revising and editing. Note: each week builds upon the last week’s skills so it is ideal to attend all classes. A work sample opportunity will be provided. Recommended for grades 5 but all students are welcome.

Join us for an immersive journey into the vibrant world of Keith Haring, one of the most iconic and influential artists of the 20th century. In this digital art lesson, students will delve into the life, art, and legacy of Haring, exploring his distinctive style and revolutionary approach to art as activism. Through a hands-on project and guided instruction, participants will learn how to harness digital tools to create bold, expressive artworks inspired by Haring's dynamic visual language.
A work sample opportunity will be provided. Recommended for grades 6-8, but all students are welcome.

Science - Lower - Engineering! Let's Build! (S2)

Students will learn about engineering and the engineering process, and have the chance to design, build, and test their own creations during this 5 week course! Students will design and build a simple bridge, learn about windmills and design their own, build a simple car, and construct a marble run!
A work sample opportunity will be provided. Recommended for grades TK - 1, but all students are welcome.

Science - Middle - Weather & Climate (S2)

Students will learn the difference between weather and climate. Come and create graphs and weather reports showing typical weather of the different seasons. Put on your friendly face because you are going to be the reporter!
