Social Studies - Middle - Exploring Native American History (S4)

Overview
This month we are going to explore what the United States was like when the American Indians were the only inhabitants. We will learn about their regions, cultures, food and the different tribes that spread over what is now the United States. We will also learn about the explorers that came and how they interacted with them. A work sample opportunity will be provided. Recommended for grades 2-3, but all students are welcome.

Social Studies - Upper - California Gold Rush, Can You Dig It? (S4)

Let’s dig in deep and hopefully strike gold! We will explore all the different people who came to California for the gold rush. How did they get there? What was their journey like? What different types of experiences did people have during the gold rush? How did it shape our state? We will answer these questions and more as we look into California and US history during the Gold Rush. A work sample opportunity will be provided. Recommended for grades 4-5, but all students are welcome.

Students will learn about a time period rich in history. These five sessions will cover the impact the Roman Empire had on everything from artchitecture to modern governments. Students will learn different measurement systems, how to convert from one to another, how to use a protractor and find missing angles, and how to find volume both with cubes and following the formula.
