Opinion Writing for Young Children. Calling all pet lovers! Let’s share about our favorite pets and learn how to write an opinion piece. Children love to listen to stories about animals. This course will help them learn how to express themselves on paper through drawings, dictation, and writing. Recommended for grades TK, K, and 1, but all students are welcome.

Yes, grammar CAN be fun! Using standard English in speech and writing, this interactive course will review a few different grammar rules each week. Students will have fun with apostrophes, synonyms, and parts of speech. Lots of hands-on learning in this course! Recommended for grades 2 and 3, but all students are welcome.

This course provides opportunities for students to crack the code of the English language. Students will have the opportunity to “investigate” and discover hidden meanings in words and phrases we use every day. Target skills: grammar, figurative language, reading comprehension, and creative writing.

Writer's Club - 5th - Epic Story Makers - Creative Writing (S7)

Learn how to write creative stories! You’ll be the writer, artist, and adventurer! Create your own superhero comic book, write about your own unique Squishmallow, and travel through time, journaling your wild adventures. Get ready to bring your ideas to life with your imagination! Join us and let your creativity soar!
This course is designed for 5th graders, but all are welcome to attend. A work sample opportunity will be provided.
Note: each week builds upon the last week’s skills so it is ideal to attend all classes.

Join us to explore the elements of poetry and discover your inner poet! This creative writing course encourages students to express themselves through poetry while improving their writing skills and sparking their imagination. Topics include: figurative language, verse, rhythm, theme, meter, and more. Students will have a chance to showcase their creativity through a work sample.
Note: While designed for 4th graders, all aspiring poets are welcome!
